The 1932 Olympics were decimated by the Great Depression and logistics traveling from Europe to USA.
1,332 (1,206 men, 126 women) competitors from 37 nations participated in 14 sports and 117 events over nearly 3 months. United States won more than three times as many gold medals (41) than any other nation.
With the Olympics being held in the heart of Hollywood, the USA put on a more dramatic ceremony to light the Olympic flame.
Interesting Points: Only the 2nd time the Olympic Games were held outside Europe.
